RECIPE Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuits

Ready in 20-30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups of All-Purpose Flour

  • 2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder

  • 1 Teaspoon of Sugar or Honey

  • ½ Teaspoon of Salt

  • 3 Teaspoons of Creole Seasoning of Choice

  • 1 Cup of Buttermilk

  • 1 Stick of Unsalted Butter (½ a Cup)

  • 1 ½ Cups of Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 425°

  2. Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl (if you are using honey instead of sugar, skip adding honey until Step 4).

  3. Melt butter in microwave for one minute. Add melted butter into the dry ingredients.

  4. Add the buttermilk. This is the step where honey is added, if using.

  5. Mix ingredients together until just combined.

  6. Add that cheddar! Mix well.

  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes.

  8. Melt two tablespoons of butter. Brush hot biscuits with melted butter and enjoy!

Note:

  • This is a similar recipe to a lot I've seen in my recipe research, but I used buttermilk. I would much rather use buttermilk than whole milk in a lot of things!

  • Feel free to use Old Bay seasoning instead of Creole seasoning. I personally made my own Creole seasoning based on this recipe , but I added more cayenne pepper and used smoked paprika instead of regular paprika.

  • This recipe works amazing with other shredded cheeses such as parmesan or even pepper jack!
